Ikea Hack-Bathroom & Jewelry Storage

Posted on

Storage is a universal problem throughout my home and I know I’m not the only person that struggles with it. I’m constantly going through things, getting rid of things, reorganizing things, etc. But there are certain things that you still need around. And for those things you just need for find a home for them. In the bathroom It’s nice if that home is not the countertop. Here is my solution and it come in at about $5.

What you need is:

  • 1 BEKVAM Spice Rack from IKEA ($3.99)
  • 1 package of mug hooks ($.97)

That’s it!!!

Our bathroom is separated so the toilet shower is in one space and the sink is in a another space, neither of which is very big. The shelf space up above to hold lotions and hair stuff :

And the hooks below to hang necklaces and earrings (admittedly I do not own a lot of jewelry, but obviously there is a lot more space under here for hooks and more jewelry!). I just hand screwed each of the hooks in, the wood is soft enough to do it. If you find it difficult or want to make sure your spacing is correct, before hanging your shelf, hammer a nail partway in and pull it out wherever you would like hook. This will help you screw your hooks in.

Mailbox Makeover

Posted on

Our old mailbox wasn’t that old. Maybe 3 or 4 years old. But for some reason (could it be our crazy intense summer heat or regular high wind advisories?) it no longer stayed shut and the flag would not stay up. While wander Home Depot on Friday night with all 4 kids in tow we came across a stack of mailboxes and the price was right, $5.

I brought it home and dressed it up with some vinyl and installed it. It is a huge improvement over the old.

Basketball Hoop Help

Posted on

My 5 year old really wants to play basketball but doesn’t quite have the arm strength yet to get the ball through the hoop. What resulted was him not even wanting to try. So, I figured out a solution that allows him to have success and practice a the same time! All we needed was our current basketball hoop and and hula hoop and the problem was solved!

So, if you have a little basketball player that is struggling to make it through the hoop, just try added another hoop- a hula hoop and let that basketball player make some baskets!

Homemade Pizza Lunchable

Posted on

My kids love taking luchables to school for lunch. So, usually once a week or so I let them. Their favorite is the pizza lunchable. On Pinterest recently I saw an idea to make your own and decided to give it a try!!

For the pizza crust I made a homemade whole wheat pizza dough:

Whole Wheat Pizza Crust:

  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Then I portioned them out into small crusts and baked at 425 degrees for about 18 minutes. I had doubled the recipe since my family was having pizza for dinner. A doubled recipe made 1 large pizza, 1 large batch of bread-sticks and 10 mini crusts.

Once they were room temperature I bagged them all up with 1 crust, a small bag of cheese & pepperoni and a small bag of sauce. Then stored them in the fridge until we packed up lunches.

A perfect healthier option to a pizza lunchable!!

Charging Station

Posted on

With all of the electronic devices we have these days we needed a home for it all! All of the chargers and a home base for everything! Here was our solutions and wire letter sorter and a few extra plugs, including one with USB chargers built in!

And here is everything in it’s home getting charged up, or waiting to be used in one central location!

Here’s the plug situation!

So far it’s worked out great. There’s no wondering where my phone is, it’s either in my purse or on the charging station. And the kids know exactly where to put their tablet!!
